Here are the questions we hear most from families considering home care. Can't find what you're looking for? Call us at (724) 555-0123.

About Home Care

Non-medical home care is support with everyday living tasks. Our caregivers help with personal care like bathing, dressing, and grooming. They can assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, and errands. What we don't do is medical care like wound care, medication administration, or medical monitoring. If medical care is needed, that's a different service.

Home care happens in your loved one's home, with their own belongings, routines, and independence. Assisted living and nursing homes are facilities. Many people prefer to age in place at home with support from a caregiver. It's often more affordable too.

There's no one "right" time. Some families need help after an injury or surgery. Others support aging parents gradually as they become less independent. Some use respite care to give a family caregiver a break. There's also no minimum age—we've worked with families caring for younger adults with disabilities. If you're wondering if care might help your situation, that's worth talking about.

Getting Started

Call us at (724) 555-0123 or fill out our contact form. We'll have a conversation about your situation and what you need. If we can help, we'll talk about next steps. There's no obligation and no charge for this conversation.

It depends on your situation and timeline. Some families need care to start within days. Others are planning ahead. Once we match you with a caregiver and you feel comfortable, we can move pretty quickly. We typically aim to start within 1-2 weeks, but we'll work with your specific timeline.

It's a conversation. We ask about your loved one's needs, daily routine, any health considerations, and what matters most to your family. We listen more than we talk. By the end, you should understand what home care could look like for your situation and what it might cost. You'll have time to ask questions and think it over.

About Our Caregivers

We're selective. Every caregiver goes through background checks, reference checks, and training. But it's not just about credentials. We look for people who are reliable, compassionate, and actually care about doing good work. When we match you with a caregiver, it's because we think their personality and approach will fit your loved one's needs.

Yes. As you get to know your caregiver, if there are preferences about who provides care—based on gender, background, or personality—we can work with that. We want you to be comfortable and your loved one to feel safe.

We make changes. If something isn't working, we want to know. Sometimes it just takes time to build a relationship. Other times, a different caregiver will be a better match. We'll find someone who works for your family. This is important enough to get right.

Yes. All caregivers complete training on safety, proper techniques for assistance with personal care, communication, and our quality standards. If your loved one needs specialized support—like working with someone with dementia—we make sure the caregiver has experience and training for that.

Because fair pay matters. When caregivers are compensated appropriately, they're more likely to stay. When they stay, your loved one has consistency and relationships instead of a rotating door of new faces. Plus, people do better work when they're respected and fairly paid. For us, it's not a cost issue—it's a quality issue.

Your Care Plan

Tell us and we'll adjust. If they need more hours, fewer hours, different tasks, or a different schedule, we make it happen. Your care plan isn't carved in stone. It changes as your loved one's situation evolves.

Yes. If circumstances change and you need to pause care, we can arrange that. Life happens. We're flexible and we'll work with you to make the transition smooth.

Absolutely. It's their home. Family members can be there. Some families prefer to give the caregiver and their loved one privacy. Others like to stay. We're fine either way.

The Porter App

You get check-in notifications when your caregiver arrives and leaves, detailed care notes after visits, and the ability to message your caregiver and our team. You can see the schedule and any updates related to the care plan. It's designed for transparency and communication, not surveillance.

Yes. All information is encrypted. Only you, authorized family members, and your care team can access it. We take privacy seriously and comply with all regulations around health information.

Payment & Insurance

We accept private pay (cash, check, credit card, bank transfer), long-term care insurance, and VA Aid & Attendance benefits. We work with your insurance company if you have an LTC policy. We don't accept Medicaid.

Pricing depends on the services you need and how many hours. We charge competitive rates for the quality of care you're getting. Call us to discuss your situation and get a specific quote. We're transparent about pricing and won't surprise you later.

Yes. If you're a veteran or surviving spouse, we can help you understand if you might be eligible for Aid & Attendance benefits and guide you through the application process. We've worked with many families navigating the VA, and we'll support you through it.

Call us. We're happy to explain any charges, discuss your billing, or adjust your payment arrangement if needed. Billing should be straightforward and clear. If it's not, let us know.

Service Area

We serve Butler, Allegheny, and Westmoreland Counties in Western Pennsylvania. If you're outside our service area, we can help you find agencies in your area.

We'd love to help, but if you're outside Butler, Allegheny, and Westmoreland Counties, we're not able to serve you. We can recommend agencies in your area if that would help.
